Haiti Update

I want to update you about the unfolding situation in Haiti and ask for your prayers and continued support.  You can donate now online.

As many as 3 million Haitians were affected by the devastating 7.0 earthquake last Tuesday. Many have lost their homes and loved ones. We are supporting the efforts of World Vision as they bring immediate relief to the region.  World Vision has more than 800 Haitian staff as well as a dozen international disaster response experts responding throughout affected areas.

World Vision is rushing 18 metric tons of basic relief supplies to the quake zone. We are supporting their distributions for families and providing food, clean water, and emergency medical care. The country's infrastructure has been devastated, and the magnitude of this catastrophe is enormous. Click here if you’d like to donate now.

Thanks to US government grants, our gifts to World Vision are being multiplied 3 times.  If you've already given a gift, thank you. “Ask and it shall be given you, knock and the door shall be opened;

“Glory to God” as the Angels sing
To welcome the birth of their Infant King
The agent of God’s divine revolution
Who changed the direction of our evolution.
For the Saviour was born not to keep us in line
But to free our humanity to seek the Divine
And his words bid us focus on what lies ahead
And forget the old luggage that belongs to the dead.
“For to knock ask and seek is a basic technique
To seek knock and ask is the scientist’s task
To seek ask and knock is the truth searcher’s Rock”
And Love is the point of Creation

As the angels applauded new light in the night
Their song was an echo of heaven’s delight
For if God can embody himself in the human
There’s no limit to fashioning all kinds of new man.
So angels can praise [in proportion of course]
All those who can overcome darkness by force;
By force of the spirit, by force of the light
by force of the truth that illumines the night
For to knock as and seek is a basic technique
To seek knock and ask is the scientist’s task
To seek ask and knock is the truth searcher’s Rock
And Love is the heart of Creation.

For when Francis of Poverty’s call was enticed
Then Christians evolved a new vision of Christ.
And angels sang “glory” when Shakespeare was born
With a mind to create a new dramatist’s dawn.
And they sang at the birth of young Beethoven too
Whose music evolved into something quite new.
So when Darwin was born, they sang with elation
For a soul who could try to make sense of creation;
Whose mind could discern how our senses might solve
The question of how all we know could evolve.
And all evolution of science and art
Of thinking, inventing – in mind and n heart –
We owe to the Child of the first Christmas day
