I like to re-read the Gospels during Advent. In them we have the story of Jesus. The accompanying picture is a simple reminder of the basic message of the first Gospel. When you combine a “mat” with a “U” it sounds like Matthew. This is the picture association device that Walk Through Bible Ministries combines with a picture of a King. This picture is a reminder that the book of Matthew is all about a King: King Jesus, who is the King of Kings. The Gospel of Matthew says that Jesus was God’s promised Savior who is linked though the generations to the throne of King David. The man Matthew, a Jewish tax collector who became a disciple of Jesus, illustrates in his book how Jesus was the Jewish Messiah and he describes Jesus’ birth, miracles, conversations, and parables. He also shows how Jesus moves beyond Israel to share a message of hope for all humanity. The book concludes with the Great Commission (28:19-20).
