I have spent years as a member of Ecclesiastical
Committees of the Presbyterian Church that are responsible for dealing with
minister reviews and resolving church conflict.
I have witnessed helpful consultations and disastrous ones. My wife and I are both trained in a system of
consultation which helps congregations and their pastors define and meet goals
in a charitable and fair process. I have
a special sensitivity to how relationships in the church institution and in
family life inter-relate. I seek to help
ministers adopt helpful methods of pastoral leadership and find safe settings
for doing the challenging work of becoming healthy pastors. I believe healthy
pastors make healthy churches.
