Remembering Parents this Memorial Day

I am so thankful for my sister Nancy, who provided so much care for both my mom and dad in their final years of life. She now tends to their grave marker, and visited the memorial park on Memorial Day Weekend.  My dad's memorial tribute is carved on one side of the stone and my mother's tribute is on the other side. They are interred at the Washington State Veteran's Cemetery in Medical Lake, outside Spokane WA. 

My mother was a family servant with deep faith, tender strength, creativity and love.My mother was a supportive military spouse and encouraging mother of five children. 

My father served for 27 years in the United States Air Force.  He served in South East Asia, Guam, Greenland, Hawaii, and Strategic Air Command based across our continent.

My father was a faithful caring servant to my mom, our family, his church and our country.

Singing for Others

After sharing the Hawai'i Blessing with my wife, she listened to it repeatedly. Then sang it for you and others.  She describes it this way:

Today I went to a local park overlooking Redlands and sang the Hawai'i Blessing over and over out loud as I walked my dog.  It filled me up and blessed me to the point that I turned to the city and sang the blessing to Redlands, to your family, to my family, and as I drove home I went through the church parking lot and sang it to the church.

Rose Christmas 2018

We began our fourth year of ministry with the amazing First Congregational Church of Redlands this May. We love visiting with our boys and their families around Southern California; we miss our regular time with Scott, and his girlfriend Emma, up in Oregon.    Wishing you every blessing in the New Year!
